What is the Arkansas Geographic Information Office?

The Arkansas Geographic Information Office (AGIO) was created to educate the public and to provide information regarding land and mapping data resources to various entities throughout the state. The AGIO completes state and federal spatial data projects and works in conjunction with the Arkansas State Land Information Board (ASLIB). The office is administered by the State Geographic Information Coordinator (SGIC), Shelby Johnson, and is directed by the ASLIB.

What can the AGIO do for me?

Creating digital mapping data can be costly and difficult to fund; therefore, in order for Arkansas to make wise investments, this data needs to be coordinated and collaborated with other entities so that many different groups can share these resources. The AGIO coordinates with different federal, state, and local agencies and organizations in order to fund appropriate GIS resources for Arkansas. The AGIO also works in conjunction with the Arkansas State Land Information Board on many GIS activities, projects, policies, and procedures.
